The Organizing Committee of the Alpine Skiing World Cup in Kranjska Gora today hosted an inspection by the International Ski & Snowboard Federation (FIS), marking an important step in the preparations for January’s Women’s World Cup races.

The Secretary General of the Kranjska Gora Organizing Committee, Tomaž Šušteršič, emphasized the importance of timely and thorough readiness of all stakeholders, particularly those involved in preparing the racecourse and ensuring sufficient quantities of artificial snow:

“Today’s meeting and the inspection by the International Ski Federation is above all important from the perspective of preparing all stakeholders, especially those involved in preparing the competition course and, of course, securing enough artificial snow, so that they can be well prepared for the upcoming winter season,” said Šušteršič.

This year, the organizers have also introduced several technical upgrades. The company TechnoAlpin will deliver ten state-of-the-art snow cannons to Kranjska Gora, enabling more efficient snow making and racecourse preparation. In addition, new water cooling systems will be implemented to ensure optimal temperatures for snow production.

Šušteršič also highlighted that the entire system will be tested and maintained, stressing the importance of an experienced team to carry out snow making operations.

“This means not only more efficient preparation, but also greater energy efficiency, which translates into financial efficiency as well, and most importantly, greater reliability of the snow surface — a high-quality racecourse that will welcome the world’s top female alpine skiers at the World Cup on January 3 and 4 in Kranjska Gora,” he added.
